During Halloween 2000, Barbie wanted to have a Halloween party at our house. Thirty people attended.

Ron has been accused of being a Halloween “nut” and decided that if he was going to do this, it was going to be done right. The party took on a life of its own and became large enough that in 2004, we had to tent the backyard to make the perfect haunted atmosphere (and add more space to accommodate all of the people).

While cleaning up, we decided to turn all of our hard work in to good for others, and raise money for a charity.

When we started our search for that charity, we knew it would be about children. Children’s causes are special to our heart. We chose the Lee Ann Britain Infant Development Center, because of the incredible work they do with kids who have developmental disabilities.

During our first visit to the IDC, we had a chance to meet the staff, some parents, and many children that benefit from their programs. That was all it took for us to become a supporter.

Our vision for HillOween is to become the biggest and best Halloween fundraiser in Kansas City! We want to grow HillOween and our ability to raise money for great children’s causes like the Britain Center, but we will make sure to keep it FUN and full of surprises for you!

Who says kids get to have all the fun at Halloween?!

Thank you, all of our friends and family for supporting us! See you at our next HillOween event on Saturday, October 20th, 2012!
